Other Relationship Information about Amy Yasbeck and John Ritter:
Amy played John's wife or love interest in the first two Problem Child movies. She also played his wife in two sitcom appearances. In 1991, both were guest stars on The Cosby Show, where Yasbeck played the in-labor wife of Ritter's basketball coach character. In 1996, Ritter guest starred on Yasbeck's sitcom Wings as the estranged husband of Yasbeck's character Casey.
According to Yasbeck, Ritter forced her to eat a bagel and cream cheese because he thought she was too thin. He also thought she was too young to play his wife in the movie.
The date of John's death was their daughter's fifth birthday, the day before Yasbeck's forty-first birthday and six days before their wedding anniversary and his own birthday. Yasbeck gave her blessing to the continuation of the sitcom, 8 Simple Rules, where it was ultimately decided that Katey Sagal's character would assume the lead role as a widow.

Classic Quotes by Amy Yasbeck and John Ritter about their relationship:
"John really did heal people with laughter, and more and more, as the days, months and years have gone by, we have been able to choose to transform the grief into something positive." Amy Yasbeck
"I keep going for Stella. It's a huge lesson for her to know that it's okay to be alive and to go on living and that it honors the person to live with a little bit of their light inside of you." Amy Yasbeck
"I feel as connected to John now as I ever have. While he was alive, he was so in our hearts that that part never goes away." Amy Yasbeck
"I was always so blown away by what a wonderful father he was." Amy Yasbeck
"He was ego-free. We fell in love telling stories of our lives." Amy Yasbeck
"There's no real formula for grieving, and that is the lesson: It's okay to be whereever you are with it. John taught us a lesson every day. He'd walk down the sidewalk, and instead of just looking at the nicely manicured bushes in our neighborhood, he'd point out the weed growing up through the sidewalk, and he'd say, "that's life. That's what life does. You put the cement over it, you do anything you can, and life always comes back." Amy Yasbeck
