| Castro and Mayhall dated briefly in 2006 but broke up because they were going to colleges in different states (Castro attended Texas A&M and Mayhall attends The University of Oklahoma) and didn't want a long distance relationship. They remained friends. In late 2007 when Castro was in the audition process for American Idol the relationship started up again and in 2008 when he was a finalist on the show they decided to start dating again. Mayhall made several trips to Los Angeles to watch Castro performing on American Idol. Star Magazine ran a story in the Summer, 2008 that they were at Tiffany's browsing for engagement rings during a stop on the American Idol tour but both Castro and Mayhall denied that they are engaged. Mayhall spent time in New York City with Castro when he was doing talk show appearances after being eliminated from American Idol. She appeared on the tv show "Good Day with Mike and Juliet" and also made several radio show appearances with him. Mayhall attended several American Idol concerts to watch Castro. She was in the audience in Atlantic City, Long Island, Oklahoma City and Tulsa. | | |
